Newport Beach Rhinoplasty
The nose is in the center of your face, and is one of the major factors in facial appearance. Usually the anatomy of your nose is determined by genetics or heredity, but trauma or injury can also play a part.
If you feel that your nose is not attractive, or the appearance or proportions bother you, you may be considering cosmetic surgery of the nose, or rhinoplasty. Dr. Solmer will discuss with you what he thinks can reasonably be accomplished, and it is important that you communicate what features of your nose you would like improved. As with any surgery, there are some limitations, depending on what you are starting with. The tip size and projection, nasal bone width and height, the structure of the mid nose, the symmetry of the nose, the nostril appearance, and the nasal profile are among the factors that will be evaluated.
Nasal surgery may be performed with all incisions made inside the nose, referred to as closed rhinoplasty, or an incision can be made across the columella between the nostrils to aid in visualization of the structures of the nose. This is called an open rhinoplasty. Cartilage may be removed from one part of the nose and placed or grafted in another part of the nose to help maintain your new shape. If you have breathing difficulties due to a deviated septum, a nasal septoplasty may be done at the same time.
When it comes to your nose, just a few millimeters can make all the difference in how you look and feel about yourself. Call Newport Beach board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Solmer for your rhinoplasty consultation at 949 548-0227.
